The Ohio State University marching band goes viral with video game inspired half-time routine

All marching bands should be this cool.

Taking on characters and tunes from such popular video games as Pokémon, Halo, Tetris, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, the Ohio State University's marching band earned their name "The Best Damn Band in the Land" (TBDBITL) performing over the weekend -- and going viral in the process.

The gaming-inspired routine took place during the half-time show of Saturday 's football game when the OSU Buckeyes took on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The performance proved to be a fan favourite, with the clip earning more than 6.8 million views since its posting on YouTube on Oct. 7.

"Ha, I cheered the moment I heard the Zelda theme," one viewer commented on YouTube. "I was thinking to myself 'You better not miss out on Zelda' - That game has the best music out of any game to date."

Wrote another: "OMG that is incredible! You guys are AMAZING!!!! All the parts are so beautiful, especially Zelda with Epona, omg omg!!!!! "

TBDBITL even took the time during the performance to give a shout-out to their arch-rivals, the University of Michigan Wolverines, by lowering the school's maize and blue flag during the castle sequence at the 7:27 minute mark.

Bravo, Buckeyes!
