Kelly Clarkson to release greatest hits package. Which songs should make the cut?

Kelly Clarkson, the inaugural "American Idol," has decided to release an album compilation of her biggest songs titled "Greatest Hits — Chapter 1," which will include three previously unreleased tunes, among them a new single that encapsulates her journey, called "Catch My Breath."

"To celebrate the strength and longevity that my fans, friends, and family have supported me with, I wrote this song 'Catch my Breath' with one of my best friends that has seen me through everything," the "Duets" judge said in a statement on her website. (Billboard reports that she co-wrote the new track with Jason Halbert and Eric Olson.)

Clarkson also added, "This song represents who I've been, what I've felt, and where I'm headed as not only an artist but as a 30-year-old that is now smart enough to know that it's time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today… Thank you everyone that has been a part of my career and life. Here's to another decade of passion and fun!"

"Catch My Breath" will arrive on Oct. 16, and although the tracklist for her "Greatest Hits — Chapter 1" album (due out Nov. 19) has yet to be released, here are the Top 5 songs we think deserve a spot on the record.

5. "Low"
Appearing on her first album "Thankful," "Low" was the follow-up single to "Miss Independent" in 2003. Although it only peaked at No. 58 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, it still remains one of our favourites, as it was one of the first times we really heard the pop/rock version of Clarkson's sound that we have come to appreciate today.

4. "My Life Would Suck Without You"
Released in 2009 as the lead single from her fourth album "All I Ever Wanted," "My Life Would Suck Without You" propelled the Texas native to the top of the charts. It also brought back the fun side of Clarkson after her 2007 album "My December," which she said was created during the "lowest point of [her] life."

3. "Already Gone"
Co-written by Clarkson and Ryan Tedder, "Already Gone" was the centre of controversy in 2009. At the time, Clarkson revealed that she was upset that the song shared similarities to Beyoncé's tune "Halo," which the OneRepublic frontman also wrote. However, controversy or not, this track still remains one of our favourites.

2. "Since U Been Gone"
Before landing in Clarkson's lap, 2004's "Since U Been Gone" was turned down by female artists like Hilary Duff and Pink. Called "one of the decade's finest pop anthems," the "Breakaway" album track was credited as "[conjuring] memories of Abba" by Rolling Stone and went all the way to No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs chart. It's also one of the greatest break-up tracks, ever.

1. "A Moment Like This"
Watching Clarkson perform "A Moment Like This" after winning "American Idol" is an event that "Idol" and Clarkson fans alike can cherish. This 2002 tune still gives us goosebumps every time we hear it, and it deserves to be on Clarkson's new best-of collection. We predict that it will probably be one of the last songs on the record.
