Taylor Swift and Zac Efron get cute on “Ellen”

They make sweet music together but that doesn't mean that Taylor Swift and Zac Efron are a couple.

While on a press tour promoting their new animated flick, "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax," Swift and Efron stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to sing DeGeneres a song and deny that they're a couple.

During the broadcast, Swift revealed that she taught Efron how to play the guitar and suggested they show off his talents by performing their own rendition of the Foster The People tune, "Pumped Up Kicks." The former Wildcat does a decent job playing a few chords while the seasoned songstress fills in the melody on the Grammy-nominated track. Both stars are able to keep a straight face while delivering their impromptu lyrics and fly off the charts on every level of cuteness.

The duet demonstrated a polite way of telling Ellen that her assumption about their relationship status was incorrect and a little too insistent. After listening to lyrics like, "It gets kind of weird/ Calling us out like we're boyfriend and girlfriend," and "She always asks me who I'm dating every time I'm on this show/ and I don't even know why/ But it gets five million hits on YouTube!" hopefully Ellen got the message.

According to the LA Times, Swift is the first person to successfully teach Efron to play guitar and during the premier of their new animated film, he boasted that, "She's a great teacher." He also added, "In the past, everyone who's tried to teach me guitar starts with music theory and stuff like that. I tend to just doze off after a little while. She went straight into songs. She taught me [approximately] four chords, and I'm already playing all the good campfire songs."

Even though they would be a charming couple, Efron could be a little hesitant about starting a relationship with someone who consistently uses her personal life for lyrical material like Swift. On the other hand, Swift might be hesitant about dating someone with a crazy "Uncle Hank" and who apparently "smells like waffles." Remember this?
