Kelly Clarkson covers Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” in Australia

When Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" world tour reached Perth, Australia, on Friday Oct. 5, the original "American Idol" chose to cover a song by a fellow "Idol" winner. During the fan request portion of her show, Clarkson surprised the audience by performing Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away."

"I love music! I love music more than most people," the 30-year-old said before launching into "Blown Away," the second single off Underwood's fourth album by the same name. "I love all different genres [and] I love anything that sounds soulful and has a heart to it."

Clarkson added, "We've had this song requested quite a bit and I was just trying to wait and I didn't know exactly how I wanted to do it, because I knew that I wanted to change up the production of it. I love this song, this is probably my favorite Carrie Underwood song. It's just super dark and I think it's really cool. We're going to do our own version of 'Blown Away.'"

Clarkson's acoustic rendition of the tune sounds a little grittier with a harder edge than the original, and needless to say, she blew us away.

This isn't the first time the Clarkson has honoured her fellow "Idol" winner with a cover. She has also performed her own version of Underwood's 2007 "Carnival Ride" album track "I Know You Won't" during a show at Los Angeles' Troubadour in 2011.

Wouldn't it be cool to hear both of these artists on the same track? Let's cross our fingers and toes for a Clarkson and Underwood duet in the near future!
