MuchMusic Video Awards 2012: Marianas Trench rock out at the MMVAs

They rode in on their valiant, albeit inflatable, steeds, attempted stage diving during their performance, picked up a few awards and in true Marianas Trench fashion, rocked the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards.

Holding the most nominations at the 2012 MMVAs (they had seven), Marianas Trench walked away from Toronto's biggest block party with wins in two categories for Cinematography of the Year for "Fallout" and Pop Video of the Year for "Haven't Had Enough."

Taking the stage, the band performed their hit "Fallout" and borrowed a page from their label owner's, Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, book on pyrotechnics, while lead singer Josh Ramsay attempted to stage dive into the arms of waiting fans, twice.

"It was very hot from behind me and when I got into the crowd, someone tried to take my shoe," the frontman revealed to the media after the show. "But, they did that by turning my foot at a sweet, sweet angle."

As well as his Marianas Trench duties, like stage diving and coming up with red carpet arrival ideas like riding in on an inflatable horse, Ramsay doubles as a producer with credits on Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and a spot on her new secret track.

"Her and I have written another song together and it's just finished, I think they just mixed it. It's really good," Ramsay said to the press after the show. "Carly did a really great job. I don't know if she's announced what it is yet [but] I'm slapping the bass in it."

In a few weeks, the band will premiere their newest music video, "Desperate Measures," and like most of their clips, fan involvement is ever present and something that the band is truly thankful for.

"It's cool because our fans request our videos like crazy, they're the reason that we get played at all and [for our new video,] we had them make dolls and there are thousands of dolls [that look like] us [in the new video,]" bassist Mike Ayley told Yahoo! Canada Music.

"What you guys don't realize is that the fans are usually at the set of the video for a lot longer than we are," guitarist Matt Webb added. "[They] will have a call time at 6:00 a.m. and we don't roll in until noon and they're there working their asses off and we really appreciate that."
